Modeling Philosophy

The gentlemen at Modelers Social Club have a motto: build what you want, when you want, how you want.

I really don’t think I can sum up my philosophical approach to this hobby any better than that. We all approach the hobby form different perspectives. Some people want and need absolute accuracy in color, detail. etc. I just don’t. Though I’ve come to value accuracy more as of late, if my subject reasonably looks like what it’s supposed to I am happy with it. Frankly, if issues with a kit are not something I would have never noticed were it not for forums and the internet in general, I will generally live with it…unless I just want the challenge of correcting something.

It actually doesn’t matter what any builders philosophy is regarding accuracy, or how much they are willing to go away from, or stick strictly to, out of the box builds. What is important is that we all have fun doing what we love and sharing it with others. I think it’s unfortunate when one side or the other dismisses people who choose to live by a different philosophy. It does happen, and I feel it really does more harm than good to the community in general. I hope that we can all value and appreciate everyone’s approach and the work they do. That’s my big wish. Help me make it happen.
